On November 9, 2021 Italian Senate approved the so-called law Salvamare, which aims to provide a concrete solution to the serious problems concerning the protection of the sea
Among the innovations introduced:
- The fishermen will no longer be forced to "throw back" the "fished" plastics
- Storage areas will be created inside the ports
- The sand recovered from biomass can be reused for beach nourishment
- Mobile screening plants can be used
- The management costs of biomass could be borne by the concessionaires of the beaches
